HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Thk usual monthly mentiui* of the Hamilton Borough Council was hold on Tuesday evening at the B>roueh Council Chamber*. Them were present : Crs. Pad', Reid, Slade, Wood, Tippen, Sand«s, mid Sulm m. —tn the absence of the Mayor, Cr. I'arr was voted t.o the chair.
ArOLOGY. —His Worship Llio Mayor (Mr I. Cmtes) wrote apologising for hin i\navoidable absence from the tn"etinK.
Malf-Ykarly Accounts.—The balancesheet for the half year rnded Septomber 30th, 1891, was returned bv the Audit Office duly cprtifi°d to liv Mr Fitzgerald, Controller and Auditor-General.—The accnnnfH were laid on tbp '•able.
Verandah —Mr Thos. M. Hill, Hamilton West, applied for ppnriissinn tn erpet a vprandah in front, of his shop over the footpath according to t'lP Borough by-laws. —The apnlKation was granted.
Slaughtering Lickmk —Mr Thorn™ C'as-i'lj- applied for the renewal of his lieensp. —C'an ted.
Rkpokts.—The foreman of wrks reported th 't during the month the Hamilton li ist bath" had been taken down and cir'ed away; 22 chains of the cenp'tarv r"ad forni"d ; thr°p s»ts of nipus laid, and a n»w water-trip Kid in Victoria-s'rent. He stated that he intended starting work at Richmond-s'reet at mico.—The do? rpgistr n- reported th-'t during the year 127 does had been regi*t"l"d.—The poundkeeper repi't'd that durintr the two months ended November 30th. nine head of cat'lo and three horses had been impounded, and 10s received in f»e-'.—The various reports were recpived and adopted.
Endowmknts —The Endowment C»min their report with refer'nee 11 Mr Thos. King's application t > have Lits 3(i(> and 3UB put up for lease, suggested that no sites eligible for buildim* sites he let at present.—The chairman R'id that the land w:i* bpenning overgrown with briar, and ho would liko to spa it off r d. If desirous, the Council could at any time.—Cr. Sandps said h» (fid not think the applicant wou'd be likely to take tip the land unless assured of a lease for a t"rm of years, even although paid for his improvements.—The report was deferred to the next meeting of the Council.
Tenders.—The annual tinders wore received and dealt with, as follows :—Gravel : T. Jones, Is per yard, B isfc and West,; It. \Vait>?, Is 2d per vard. East and West.— On the motion of Cr. Tippen, seconded by Cr. Wood. Mr T. Jones'lender was accepted.— Carting: T. Jones, two horses and dray per day 12s, half-day 7s Otl, quarter-day Is. per hour 2s lid : one horse and dray per dav !Js, half-day os, quartprday 3s, i.er hour 2s. 11. Dog Rroiothak.—Cr. Salmon ptoposed that Mr W. Manktelow ba re-appointed flow registrar for Mm ensuing ycir, the remuneration to bo fixed at t.ho adjourned meeting on the 16th inst.—Carried.—'The foes ware fixed at the name as last year, viz., 10s for greyhounds am! lurchers), and us for other dogs. This was all tin* business of importance.
