Earl Russia.l denied nil the charges made against him hy his wife, and explained that her accusation that he had turned her out of bed, and left her naked on the. floor, arose from his action in removing her wet nightdress. The Countess was then seize! with a violent, tit of hysteria, during which she threatened him with a poker, and said she would commit suicide unless ho left her alone. Respondent admitted he had been disagreeable towards his wife, and probably cruel, and that he had limited her to six cigarettes per day ; but the Countess on her part was very irritating and snappish.
