CAMBRIDGE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A si'Ki't.u. meeting of tho abovo body was held on Wednesday overling, at 7 p.m. Present: The Mayor (J. 11. Priestley, Esq.), Councillors J. Hally, J. Webber, C. Roberts. R. Kirkwood, H. Kerr, W. Moisley, A. Bach, and J. S. Bond.

HosriTAr. Representative.—'The hearty thanks of the Council were tendered to Mr A. Clements for tho able and efficient manner in which he had represented the Cambridge Borough on the Hospital Board during tho past year. Cr. Bond was then elected to the office for the forthcoming year,

Reduction ok Rent.—The Council found it could not legally reduce Jas. Corcoran's rent, as per resolution passed at last meeting, without an Order-in Council from the Governor. Tho resolution was rescinded, and application will be made for an Orderin Council, under Section -1 of the Public Bodies Powers Act, ISS7.

Bathing.—lt was resolved to appoint the hours tor bathing in the river, for females and female children, from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. The chairman of the works commitee will havo the necessary repairs done to the footpath. Cr. Bach thought Cambridge was behind the times in matters pertaining to bathing, Ho would like to have a dress-ing-room erected, for the ladies, and wished the art of swimming to bo taught in the public school. Cr, Kirkwood intimated that at next meeting he should ask the Council to approach the Domain Board re having a bathing house erected at the north-east end of the lake. The meeting then broke up."
