VICTORIAN LOAN.
(BY KLKCTIIIC TKLKGKAPH.— COI'TRiaHT. Loxdo.y, November 8. Westgartii's Cii:ct T r,AH says that attempts to float the Victorian loan will be suicidiil, and it is highly improbable that any amount will bo subscribed on any terms.
The Statist remarks that New South Wales and Victoria will not awake to the danger of borrowing until they meet with point-blank refusal from English capitalists to subscribe.
The Economist expresses an opinion that the majority of land companies in Australia courted disaster by going beyond their immediate resources.
In aletter to the Statist, the London and Westminster Bank officials say that it was distinctly understood that the last Victorian loan would be sufficient to restore the equilibrium of the ledger, and that advico not to borrow
for two years would be followed.
