The question of federation, he mentioned, had been left entirely with Mr Barton, Attorney-General. He understood that aa the present Bill has been fully discussed, any amend" menta would have been referred to a new Convention. The Government intended to ask Parlinmeut to pass the oneman one-vote principle, and the fiscal question would then be proceeded with. All the members of the Government, with the exception of |Mr Barton, have been re-elected without opposition. The latter is opposed by Mr Urantham, freetrade and labour candidate. Mklrourne, November 5. A woman, reported to be the wife of a commercial traveller named Best, was shot, and the latter alleges he did it accidentally. At the inquest, however, the jury returned a verdict ot wilful murder against hint. .
