Jatnes Peter Howe, M.L.A., late chairman of the Australian Mercantile and Loan Guarantee Company and Mr James Miller, a merchant, late director of the. same Company, who were arrested at the instance of the Crown on a charge of conspiracy to defraud in connection with the transactions of the company have been sentenced to seven years' imprisonment each.
