Sir Saul Samuel, Agent-General for New South Wales, indignantly denies the statement published by the St. James' Gazette on the 17th instant, that the loan recently issued by the colony was aheorbed by accommodation bills with local banks, and asserts that not one single ehilling was misapplied. The printers throughout Germany have decided to go out on strike iu a fortnight unless their demand for nine hours a day ia conceded. Vienna, October 24. The agitation among the printers in Germany for nine hours a day is spreadto Austria. New York, October 24. The United States Government have demanded from the Chilian Government an apology and indemnity for the outrage committed in the streets of Valparaiso on the crew of the United States cruiser Baltimore. Mr J. G. Blaine, Secretary of State for the United States, has returned to New York apparently iu excellent health. Zanzieak, October 24. The East African Company is surveying a railway route to Uganda, on the shores of Victoria Nyauzi. Sir J. Fowler, the eminent enijineer, estimate the cost of constructing at two millions sterling.
