Capapie has proved his ability to get high-class racers, hurdle horses and steeplechasers, being the sire of Raglan, Sentinel, Capella Kapai, Signess (the fastest pony south of the line), Sincerity, Hune, Fragrance, Kneecap, Lonely, Maire, Despised, Mirabelle, Christmas, The Colonel, and other fast horses too numerous to mention. He has also proved himself a getter of first-class weight ■ carrying hacks, hunters and carriage horses, his stock having taken prizes at all the shows on the West Coast and in Christchurch. The colours he gets cannot be beaten, he never having sired anything but whole • coloured browns or bays with black points, and he possesses in a high degree that power so rare in sires of assimilating with all classes of mares. Also, the Pure Cleveland Bay Coaching Stallion, MOUNTAINEER, Imported from New South Wales. Mountaineer is a dark bay, with black points, foaled in October, 1888. He stands 17$ hands high, with plenty of bone, has a splendid temper, and is a grand mover. By Lord John (imp.), dam Duchess, by Duke of Cleveland (imp.) out of Mountain Maid by William Tell (imp.); Mountain Maid from a Sir Charles mare. Lord John is by Cyrus, out of the celebrated mare Bonny by Cawston j her dam by Mr Denbeigh's Old iiord John. Cyrus is the winner of many first prizes, and was got by Mr Laverack's Emperor, who was sold to the King of Italy for a large sum. Lord John, when a foal, along with his dam, won 13 first class prizes as the best coaching brood mare and foal, including the Great Yorkshire of £20. Duchess, the dam of Mountaineer, has taken 14 first prizes. By Musket (imp.); dam, Pungawerewere, by Golden Grape, dam Atlanta; Atlanta out of Crescent, by Sir Hercules; Golden Grape, by Barnton, full brother to Voltiguer, whose blood is so much sought after in England; Atlanta, by Towton, full brother to The Peer, sire of Darebin, Peeress, and other good horses, half brother to The Marquis, the winner of the 2000 Guineas and St, Leger. Tktford is a full brother to Tranter, who took first prize and Champion prize in New South Wales, also first prize and Champion prize in Victoria for the best thoroughbred against all-comers. Tetford is a half brother to St. James, who won the Dunedin Cup and ran second in the Exhibition Cup. St. James is by Leolinus, out of Pungawerewere, and is a half brother to Crackshot, who won the Wellington Cup and Auckland Cup, and who stands at the head of winners for this season in New Zealand ; so all out of his dam can gallop. Tetford won Wanganui Cup, beating Waitiri, Silence, Pasha, Libeller, and other good horses; beat same horses next day in Wanganui Stakes, mile and a-half (9st 71bs iu the saddle). Won Freo Handicap, one mile, Plate Handicap and Flying Handicap st Thames Meeting; won Victoria Haudi cap, one mile and a distance, in lmin. 58i sees., beating Antelope and eight others, at the Auckland Summer Meeting. Tetford should get first class racehorses, horses fit for Indian mount, or good weight-carriers, he being a very pretty horse himself. Terms: Single Mares, 4 guineas ; two or more, 3| guineas. Tetvord has been limited to sixty mares. I will take charge of mares at Morrinsville, and return them free of charge, if a telegram is sent beforehand.
