Tlk> Waikato Times O'hee, Friday. WAIKATO MARKETS. Ms John McN'icol Ili:r"iirs.— Cattle of all classes continued in demand at late values at Ohaupo on Tuesday, bidding being brisk for all classes, especially for good steers. Mr Rosborough'3 forty-two steers were very choice, and sold at) £2 7s fid each. Sheep are moving slowly at my auction sales, and at low prices ; but as we approach our fairs thi>y are bound to advance considerably, as few sheep will come from Mawke's Bay this season, in consequence of high prices there. I have sold piivately, for delivery in January, 3000 crossbred four-year-old ewes, at lis each in Hawke's Bay, and have sold privately here several lines of longwool awes, lamhs at side, at 15s, and one nice line of four-tooth ewes, lambs at side, at 22a, and some good hoggets, in wool, at 14s. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Messrs Alfred Buck land and Sons' Weekly Report.—At the Hayimirket during the past week small loads of wheaten straw brought from 10* to 12s each ; oaten sheaves, Is to Is 91 ; meadow hay, Is to 3s 61 the cwt ; maize, 2s Id ; oats, Is 9d to 2s tha bushel ; chaff, £2 10s to £3 10s the ton. On Friday, horse stock in full supply sold briskly, with scarce'y an exception. Strong draught from £12 10s to £18s 15s ; medium draught, £8 to £12 each; a horse,springcart, and harness, £24 10s; saddle and bridle,(iOs. At the hide and skin sa!e on Tuesday better values were ohtained. Picked heavy ox brought from 5Jd to 6M ; stout medium,3.W to4Jd ; light ox and cow hides, 2Jdto 3.Jd; oalf skins, 5d to Ojjri the lb; tallow 14s 6d to IDs 3d thoewt; rough fat, LVI the lb; bones. £417s 6d and £5 the ton ; fresh skins, 3s (id to ns yd ; lamb skins, lid to 2* 3d ; dry skins, 2s to 5s fid ; pelts, 7d to Is each ; long wool, 6Jd and 6jd crossbred, 7d the lb. At the cattle fair held at Remnera on Tuesday above 1000 head were sold Gr .wn cows kept their values; all other descriptions of cattle were lower from 5s to 7s 6d each, ♦he fall boitig more marked in calves and yearlings than in the larger cattle. Fouryears steers ranged from £4 to £5 12s 6d ; three-years steers, £2 15s to £3 12s 61 ; twoyear steers,£2los; yearlings,27s to 325; cows, £3 10s to £2 ; two to three years heifers, 30s to 455; calves, 23a each. At Pokeno on Monday the sale was held in the new yards near the station. There was a moderate muster of cattle, but all sold freely at late values. At Drury on Wednesday there was a very full muster of cattle, and prices were higher than those ruling at Reinuora. Dairy cows wero in demand at improved values. The small farm at Paparata brought £180, and privately Mr Woodfield's farm at Papatoitoi was sold for £15 an acre. Ac Remuera on Thursday, dairy cows were penned in less numbers than usual—good animals brought from £4 10s to £5 each. Fat cattle, in full number, 270 sold ; late prices were fully sustained throughout the sale. Steers were from 17s to 18s ; cows, 13s to 15s the 1001b. Sheep, in short supply, 750 yarded, were slightly better worth ; longwoolled wethers, in their wool, brought from 17s to 21s ; ewes, 13s to 15s ; shorn wethers, 15s each ; lambs, short of requirements, 190 sold, kept their late values—those of fair quality, from 7s to Ss ; prime, 10s to 13s each. Pigs, in limited number, were no better worth.

Messrs Hp.nikb and Nolan's Report. Horses The supply has been an increased one, and the demand Rood foi nil descriptions, at the previous week's values. There was again a good muster at the Durham Yards, on Friday, and bidding was brisk throughout the sale. We quote: Hacks, £4 10 s to £9 10s; light harness, £5 10s to £15; medium draughts ; medium draughts, £7 10s to £16 10s. Sheep skins, local, 3s 10J to (is 9d ; skins, country, 2s fid to 4s 8:1; pelts, 6d to lOd ; lamb skins, lid »o Is 4d. Cattle: Rather a larger number of stores have been brought forward. Fresh well grown steers have maintained their value, but for smaller and pnorly brod cattle, prices wero in favour of the purchaser. Dairy and fat stock were in usual number?, without noteworthy alteration in value. The Newmarket yards were fairly filled, and competition w.is steady throughout. Some averages of fat steers were £8 13s 9d, £8 3<, £7 6s li I, £7 4s, £6 lfis 61, £0 10s 01, £5 In;; cows, £5 15s, £5 8s 91, £5 2s 6d, £1 15s, £4 7s G.l, £4 ss. Sheep were in rather limited supply, and sold readily at the previous week's values. Wethers, at from 16s 6d to 21s ; shorn wethers, 14* 61 to 15a 6d ; ewes, 14s to 16s (id ; lambs, S* 91 to 13s 9i. Pigs : Few were yarriod, and there remained an unsatisfied demand for porkers, at 2Vd per lb live weight.

Already we notice the pens occupied with iiniserable-lnoking objects whose riirht to lie classed as ''fat'' must, we suppose, bo arrival at. by some modorn reasoning an yet unknown to us. —Fat Cattle.—An exceptionally limited entry gave those fortunate enough to have cattle ir, a ram opportunity of receiving substantial increases on later rates. Even the cow-beef raisers triumphed, and quitted tho backward animals to great advantage.
