DR. KOCH'S CONSUMPTION CURE.
Our readers are doubtless aware that quite recontly a practical trial of Dr. Koch's consumption cure was being made at the Auckland Hospital, under the supervision of several ot the leading physicians. Altogether some five patients were treated, one of them being Mr John Calder, son of tho Waipa settler. The young man has lately returned to Waikato after spending some nine weeks in tho Hospital, during which period he was subjected to the Koch treatment, receiving no less than twenty-three injections of the lymph. We gather from Mr Calder that neither in his caso, nor in any of the others, had Dr. Koch's specific any apparent beneficial effects. One of the patients died while under treatment, and in others it was soon abandoned. In Calder's case a prolonged trial was given. This can be understood from the number of injections which varied in quantity, from one minim to as much as ten minims. We understand that very slight hopns are now entertained by Auckland medical men, of any benefit being obtained from Dr. Koch's socalled consumption cure.
