HAMILTON-NGARUAWAHIA ROAD

TO TUB KDITOK. Sin.—l see by the paper that at the meeting of the Waipa County Council held last Tuesday, Cr. Exelby said there were worse roads in the district than the above mentioned road, I think that if that genlleniiiu took a drive from Hamilton to Ngaruawahia at the present time he would see for himself that it would bo a very hard matter to find one worse, especially along the l J ukete flat. This is a piece of road that was formed about three years ago and all the best of the earth was thrown off the road, and now it is quite flat in the centre, and after rain the water cannot set away. Had this portion of road been gravelled when it was formed it would have been a good road to-day, as it is now. the children going to schooi are obliged to carry their boots and socks under thoir arms and put them on when they get thero. T think if tho council gravelled this portion of the road before the und of the coming summer it would bo money savod, as the longer it is left the worse it will get. There are a few very bad ruts between the Ngaruawahia racecourse and the cemetery which want fiiliucr up as it is only a few days ago since one of tho mill; suppliers to the Ngaruawahia factory capsized all his millc by uoitig into one of these ruts, Such roads aro a disgrace to tho county, if Air llxelby can fiud any mure worse than this one.—l am, etc. Ratepayer. Pukote, 19th October, ISHO.
