FOOTBALL.

TitK return match between the Hamilton and Ngaruawahia junior clubs came off on Sydney Square, Hamilton last Saturday, resulting in a win for the homo team by nine points (all tries) to nil. The teams agreed to play with a reforee only, and to that position Mr Gwynna was apvointed. Ngaruawahia set the ball rolling, and it was quickly taken nut nf bouuds in Hamilton territory, but Harris soon carried it back to midfleld, where through some nli'side play on tho part of the visitors Hamilton wiu awarded a free kick, which the Xgaruawahia boys spoilt by rushing, and the leather was again taken out of bounds. The Hamilton boys then rushed through into their opponents' ground, and J. Harris succeeded in getting across, scoring first try foi Hamilton. R. Gillett took the kick at goal, but failed to convert. After the kickout the. play remained in miiitield for a short time, until by a forward rush it was again carried across the visitors' line. After slipping through about half a dozen hands, the leather was at last secured by F. Bayly, who got try No. 2 for Hamilton. The place kick was given to Steadman, who did not increase the score. Another try followed shortly afterwards; this was .scored by R. .Gillett, who took the shot at goal himself. This kick was also a failure, and when the whistle was blown for half time the scores were: Hamilton, three points; Ngaruawahia, nil. The second spell was even more one-sided than the first, the visitors only having the ball in their opponents' 25 once, and then only for a few seconds. Six tries were scored by the Hamilton boys, noue of which weio converted. The following are the names of those who succeeded in scoring ;—Hobb(2), Coates, (Juick, and Gillett (1 each).
