WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.

The usual monthly mooting of the Waipa County Council was held in tho Council Chambers, Ohaupo, on Tuesday.—There were present: Crs. Lang (chairman), Anderson, Smith, Shepherd, Elmsly, Exelby, and Kusabs.—Mr A. Armstrong, County Engineer, was also in attendance. Engineer's Report.—ln his monthly report the engineer stated that during the month several contracts had been completed in a satisfactory manner. AVith reference to the improvement of the OhaupoPnteransi road near its junction with the Ohanpo-To Awamntu road, he said the grade might be rendered a good df.al easier, without altering the present level at the junction, by utilising the stuff -m each side of tho present cutting, as far as the boundary fences, to raise the hollow. The one objection to this plan is that there would bo nothing to guide anyone on to the embankment after dark, tho cutting being BOft wide and the embankment only 30ft. This would only apply to tin traffic going in the direction of Paterangi, and might be met by a few panels on each side of the mouth of the embankment. Complaints having been made by the drivers of stock about the ti-tree on the side of the road between the le Rore school anil Heather's creek, he recommended that it be cut down, thereby affording not only an advantage to stock driving, but also to the road, which is much sheltered in parts by the ti-tree. Two tenders were received for repairs on the Kihikihi-Te Awamutu road — viz,, Griven, 325; Bearsley, 2Gs. He had accepted Bearsley's tender as being the lowest.—lt was decided to accept Messrs

Grice and Co.'s offer for the pipes.—With reference to the improved grade at the junction of the Ohaupo-Te Awainutn-Paterangi road, Cr. Smith moved that the recommendation of the engineer be carried out. Seconded by Cr.
