THE PAYNE FAMILY.
This celobrated company performed in the Cambridge Public Hall on Saturday oveiling to a bumper house; indeed, every seat was filled and scores had to be content with standing up. Before the performance commenced Mr Payne, sen., asked tho audience to kindly rofrain from talking while the various items were being given ; he also requested the larrikins not to whutlo but to demonstrate their approval in some other inanner. Mr Steolo made a decided hit with his " Breach or" Proiniso Case," and in response to a vociforous encore ho gavo Blewitt's old song, "The Merry Littlo Ciroy Fat Man." in which he was equally successful. Mr Strmlo also pluyod " Annio Laurie " and "Jack o' Hazeldean," upon musis.U glasses from which he produced vory sweet tones. The bellringinK was well executed the "Schottische " of Scotch airs being the most liked. Tho humourous trio "Tickling," by Miss Saunders, Mr Payne, and Mr Steelo was encored, and "Snoezing" was substituted, Mr W. J. Payne taking the place of Mi« Saunders. The best song was "Sweet Violets," by Miss Saunders who possesses a high and powerful soprano voice ; it was greatly embellished by a violin obligate played by Miss Maud Payne, The other
