NORTHERN RAILWAY LEAGUE.
(BY TICLKIiItAI'H.— OWN CO Hlt 1W PON DUST Auckland, Lust Night. The objects of the Northern Railway League, lately formed in Auckland to be submitted to a meeting of the committee, are as follows :-(l) To stop the pillage of the North Trunk railway loan before the balance U finally misappropriated ; (2) to insist on the. immediate expenditure of the £().">,OOO voted lor the extension to the tunnel, and, further, to where the Marten line divorces from Stratford ; (o) early next session, through connection svith Taranaki via Stratford, the completion of the Rotorua railway at on expenditure of £20,000, and othev urgent needs of Auckland and Taranaki districts ; (-1) to demand justice to the country districts in the matter of roads where railways do not exist. The methods proposed are organisation and union of our members and of all voters on this question towards these practical ends, by which it is hoped to avert causes creating dissensions winch weaken us, and it is believed the accomplishment of our objects will bring prosperity to all the northern community and benefit the whole colony by removing the depression of this part.
