MaW Uoah.—Dm represent councillor, Mr Johnson, was interviewed to-day respecting repairs to a portion of tho main road in tho vicinity of the new hull. The road in thin vicinity is simply impassible in wet weather, water standing tho full width of the road and extending some yards, and in some places it is over anklo deep. Mr Johnson said that the County Council really had no funds to tipare for the work ; i:i fuct tliey quite expected to pel into debt through tho compensation claim brought against them by Hill P.m.*. It is high time the County Council turned over a now loaf and attend tnuro to nncessary works rather than undertake works which may incur useless litigation. Tiik Cominc.
