General Booth stntes that he_ received a most advantageous offer for his colony in South Africa, and was almost tempted to close with them on the spot, but he thought it best to enquire in the colonies before coming to a tinal decision. He has also received a hearty invitation from South America, but prefers to establish his colonies in some p:u - t of the British Dominion. The alleged attempt to form a corner in wheat is denied, but six shillings is still offered without response. Flour has risen to £14 per ton. A communication lias been received from Baron Ilirsch to the effcct that he is sending an agent to inspect the Mallee Country, with a view of establishing colonies of Russian Jews there. Hobart, September 21. It is almost certain that the Bank of Van Dieman's Land will have to go into liquidation. The Government has arranged with the Commercial Bank to cash the bunk's notes which are in circulation for two months. Public feeling is strongly against the Government, and it is expected a vote of ceusure will be moved. _____
