PUKEKURA ROAD BOARD,

The iiMiiil mnnthly meeting of the I'ukekura 11-iud Hoard was held on Monday. Present: Mr J , ]. Lake, (Chairman) and Messrs Ja~. Anderson and William Vosper. Mr W. Scott sent an apology for his abseno. Amongst (ithor correspondence a letter was read fro pi Mr W. Tucker drawing attention to tho danger of undermining his fence if proper precautions were not taken. —The Secretary was requested to inform Mr Tucker that the necessary steps would be taken to prevent anv injury being dono to tho fence. —Messrs Fletcher and Pike wrote saying that they had tendered under a mistake as to tho amount of work required in filling up the gravel pits and also complained that the secretary did not supply them with auv spucifiations, Tho contractors asked for some releif as they had only earned two shillings a day for each man and horse employed upon the job.— The Board cousidered that they fully understood along with other contractors the nature of the work required and they could have obtained a copy of the specifications at any time if they had wished to do so. The board declined to entertain the question of making any allowance, as it would establi-h a bad precedent as well as being unfair to the other contractors.—ln respect to lianch Road the chairman and Mr Scott reported that this job would be more o\pensivo than luui been supposed at first, as it would require drain pipes of a largo size to be of any service. Mr Anderson however had been authorised to see after some puriri posts and if suitable to proceed with the work—The following accounts wore passed for payment :—Fletcher and Pike, £.") L's; (i.
