Gkntlemes,— I reprct to inform you that last Thursday (August t27th) the House of Representatives, of which body I have bwn a member by your favour, was pleased to pass a resolution virtually ceusuring me for certain expressions used by me in debate. These expressions were, to my mind, perfectly justifiable, and were within the ordinary usages of Parliamentary debate. I have, therefore, felt it right to make the strongest protest in my power against the cruel indignity and injustice to which I have been subjected, and for which it would appear I have been specially singled out. That such an insult to me must reflect upon you, through your member, would be sufficient of itself to impell me to this {course. My resignation has, therefore, been placed in the hands of the Speaker, and the seat for the Waikato is now vacant, Gentlemen, permit me to assure you that I can find no adequate words to convey my sense of the moat generous treatment I have received from you during our political connection. I trust you will understand the thanks 1 am unable to express. I am, Gentlemen, Your obliged and obedient servant, JOHN BRYCE. ELECTORAL DISTRICT OF WAIKATO. A MEETING of the ELECTORS in the above district will be held at Ohaupo on TUESDAY NEXT, immediately after the sale, to select a candidate to represent the constituency. JOHN FISHER. Ohaupo, Sept. 4Ui.
