POVERTY OF THOUGHT.

TO THE EDITOR. g lK| —Vituperation and invectivo, along with good argument, may be effective, but spleen and venom, without argument, is the resource of small minds, and also is poverty of thought. To try and stifle an opponent by pleading that The Waikato Times ought not to insert an opponent's letters shows abject incapacity to confute the reasons of the opponent. 0 yo poor scribes, why don't some friend show to you that refusing to argue but willing to stiflo is an acknowledgement of defeat? Ye yoor scriblera, if yo cannot answer " Harapepo," have the wisdom to be quiet, or, what would be more noble, to own that you are flouted. To what abasement do you descend when you condescend to slider oat of defeat by calling " Harapepe" a writer of monomania? Why cannot you see that you are exposing your poor illogical minds, for if " Harapepe " was tho poor unfortunate you represent him, you would let him alone? Why don't you see that by using in your great strait such language, you are doing so to your own confusion ; to your confusion in this way, that you have the will but not the ability to confute "Harapepe's" ideas. Here have 1 for years been writing my ideas and thoughts in The Waikato Times, and not one of these ideas and thoughts have my present opponents the pluck to argue upon. In their desperation they can only hint and imply that I am a monomaniac. Poor scribes I Hold your tongues and do not demean yourselves in the eyas of the thinking world by exposing your want of dignity and Belf-command. —I am, &c., Harapepe.
