Cai'Al'ie has proved his ability to get high-cluss racers, hurdle horses and steeplechasers, being the sire of Raglan, Sentinel, Capolla Kapai, Signess (the fastest pony south of the line), Sincerity, Huhc, Fragrance, Kneecap, Lonely, Maire, and other fast horses too numerous to mention. He has also proved himself a getter of first-class weight • carrying hacks, hunters aud carnage horses, bis stock having taken prizes at all the shows ou the West Coast and in Christclmrch. The colours he gets cannot be beaten, he never having sired anything but whole - coloured browns or bays with black points, and he possesses in a high degree that power so rare in sires of assimilating with all classes of marcs. Also, the Heavy Draught Stallion, GENERAL FLEMING. General Fleming's sire is the great Young Banker (1351), bred by David Riddell, of Kilbowie, Scotland, imported to New Zealand by the Hon. M. Holmes. His sire, Banker, by Admiral out of Minnie by Rob Roy. Admiral's sire, Sir Walter Scott, waa champion of Batteraea International Exhibition. Young Banker's name and fame have been ringing all over the Southern Hemisphere for the last dozen years, aud it would be useless to expatiate on his career and to mention his successes at the stud, or to note the famous gets that have sprung from him would be superfluous. General Flemini; (4 years, bred by Hon. M. Holmes) is a beautiful bay, and stands 17 hands high, with immense power, and is, without doubt, the grandest and heaviest colt for his years ever bred in the North Otago district. He is compactly built, and although his bone is very heavy, i 8 of the right, clean, flat kind, with plenty of silky hair on ht3 legs, and growing in the right place. Bell (dam of General Fleming) was bred by the late Mr Robert Stalker, out of the famous brood mare Kate, by (Cox's) Prince of Wales (imported); her sire waa that famous horse Duke of Bucleugh. Bell herself was the very best filly over bred in Otago, Mr Stalker refusing '200 guineas for her when rising .1 years old. Her filly by Young Banker, (full sister to General Fleming) has taken more prizes than one in the show ring, and after being second at Sydney Show was sold for :C 147. General Fleming has all the charac. teristics of a high class and fashionably bred horse, and in short is the coming sire of New Zealand. His temper is excellent, he has a strong, sound constitution, and is naturally free from taint of any kind. Also, tho Pure Cleveland Bay Coaching Stallion, MOUNTAINEER, Imported from New South Wales. Moctntainekr is a dark bay, with black points, foaled in October, 18SS. He stands 17 hands high, with plenty of bone, has a splendid temper, and is a grand mover. By Lord John (imp.), dam Duchess, by Duke of Cleveland (imp.) out of Mountain Maid by William Tell (imp.); Mountain Maid from a Sir Charles marc. Lord John is by Cyrus, out of the celebrated mare Bonny by Cawston; her dam by Mr Denbeigh's Old Lord John. Cyrus is the winner of many first prizes, and was got by Mr Laverack's Emperor, who was sold to tho King of Italy for a large sum. Lord John, when a foal, along with his dam, won 13 first class prizes as the best coaching brood mare and foal, including the Great Yorkshire of £20. Duchess, the dam of Mountaineer, has taken 14 first prizes. Mountaineer will serve a limited number of approved marcs at 5 guineas each. 24 guineas at time of service, and balance when mares prove in foal. Capapie's Fees.
