A vkky narrow escape from what might liuvi) proved ii fatal accidont occurred iit Kiirukiiriki last Tuesday. It appiur.s that Mr James McLei.ih was with his cousin and another mail ungated in cirring fl-ix t<> thu lvirakuriki Mix mill. Whan going down ii stuep incline, the dray, which was lusiilod high with green flax, overturned anil, falling upon McLeish, pinned him into the fiwamp where it lodged. Had it been hard ground, or had he been alono, the young man must have lost his life ; but by dint of strenuous exertions his two mates managed in some w.iy or another to lift the cart and release him. McLeish received a nasty cut upon the head and is a good deal shaken, but expects in a few days to be about again. _____________
