He has received instructions from his directors in Glasgow 1,0 at once proceed with the construction (it tho new mill aud Cassel plant on the site known as Shepherd's Hat, Karangahake, together with the water race tramway from the mine to the plant. The iiciv works will consist at first of 20 head dry stampers (provision being made for 40 eventually) aud the appurtenances of thy Cassel Company's process. This will mean an immediate expenditure of about .CI O,OOO, exclusive of the road which will have to be made, which will cost another Thu Crown Company is offering the. Uhiijuniiii-i Comity Council £500 towards I hi.) work, and the latter body is endeavouring to get a Government subi.iity in addition, in order that the work f.hiill be thoroughly done. The old plant will remain in its situation, as the gear I'viongiug to it is not considered) good enough to re-erect, in the new plant. Farmer and party, the well know tributurs of Owharoa, arc again on cpl-jndid ore, and have a large tonnage gramil. They commence crushing next week." County Cou.nx'll,— The Finance Committee of the Ohinemuri County Council ia arranging for funds to carry on a number of most important works within tho county, with a view of getting them under way early in tho spring, so »3 to get the benefit of the whole of the summer weather. The excess of income over administrative expenditure for the ensuing year is estimated at £1500, which will he available for works. A Committee of Crs. Phillips, Edwards, Robson, and Cassrells havo been appointed to arrange for a revolving credit at the Bank of New Zealand not to exceed £2000, by hypothec iting the revenue from rates, goldtields, &c, in onler as mentioned, to get the. various works done in the most grateful
