The Waikato Timtt Office, Friday. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Mbshks A. Bixkland and Sons' Weekly Kkpoiit.—At the llaymarket during the past week, meadow hay has brought from 2-1 3d to 3s; oaten shea von, Is 3d to 2s 3d per cwt ; straw, from 12s to 23* ; meadow hay, 10 s to 2ls the load ; maize, 2s 3d to 2s G 1 ; oats, Is fIJ to 2s lil the bushel ; southern potatoes,32sOd to -15s; carrots, 255; bonedust, i' 75s ; chaff, £1 15s to £2 10s the ton. At tho horse sale on Friday thore was a good demand for horse stock suitable for farm work ; all offered were sold at prices varying from £7 10s to £14. A small spring cut brought £5 15s. At the hide sale on Tuesday, prices were firm. Best heavy ox brought 5.V1 toojd ; good heavy, 4d to 4id ; light, from 2.\d; cow hides, l:f lto 2.fd ; calfskins. IJd to .Odthelb; tallow, 15s to 18s Gd ; bones, 4s 9d tho cwt. Sheepskins were eagorly competed for; fuli-woolled skins brought from 4s 91 to 7s each. The salo of fruit trees at Mr Mayo's on Saturday was very numerously attended, and satisfactory results wero obtained. At Romuera on Thursday tho dairy stock yarded were generally of medium quality ; they were in demand and sold satisfactorily. Store cattle were in request, and last week's advance sustained. Aged cows, in low condition, brought from 30s to 40s each; fat calves, in usual number, were at lato values; fat cattlo in avorage number, 23G sold were steady at last week's quotations : Auckland fatted steers at 19s; sea borne, 18s the lOOlbs. Store Hheep in moderate numbers were in demand ; owes, lambs at Hide, brought 15s fid each ; longwool wethers lls to 15s. Fat sheep plentiful, 1250 yarded, were lower in price than last week, about 2s each; well fatted wethers brought from 17s to 21a Gd. Pigs, iu less numbers than usual, were at late valuos. Messiw Huntku and Nolan's Wkkkly IviTOKT.— Grain, seed, horse foed, etc. : The demand has boen steady aud supply ample. Wo quote: Oats, Is (id to 2s 2d p-ir bushel; maize, 2s 7d to 2s lOd per bushel; bran, £4 5s to 111 10 s per ton ; oaten chaff, JB2 10 s to £2 15s per ton ; lis to lis (id per bushel ; cocksfoot, 7s to Bs. Horses : There has been increased animation in the market, but only average numbers have boon brought forward, and prices havo boen slightly in favour of the vender. The auction salo at the Durham Yards on Friday was fairly successful, most of the lots being cleared at prices showing an advance on tho previous week's values, but no high-priced horses wero offered or disposed of. We quote : Hacks, from 11 1 15s to £10 15s; light harness and medium draught, t's 12s fid to £'13 10s. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, otc. : A good demand has existed, and average quantities havo boen pitched. Cattle : The supply has not been a large one, but a good demand ha-, existed for all descriptions at the previous week's values. Barely an avorage number wore yarded at Newmarket on Tuesday, but a good many were brought forward, at Pukekohe on Wednesday. Tliere remained an unsatisfied demand for stores, Prices for dairy stock wero in favour of tho vendor, but no first-cluss coW:i woro disposed of. Fat beasts fully maintained the previous week's values. Some averages of fat steers were : £8 12s lid, £S 12s, £7 12s Gd, £7 10s, £G 7s Gd ; cows. 7s Gd, £6 Gs Gd, £5 7s Gd, £5 3s 4d, £4 15, £3 ss. Sheep: The Newmarket yards wero fairly well filled on Tuesday, and competition was brisk throughout the Bale; wethers sold at from 14s 3d to 21s each; ewes, 13s 3d to 19s ; mixed sexes, 14s 9d to 17s ; lambs, lis 9d each. CHRISTCHURCH LIVESTOCK MARKETS.
