WAIKATO APPLES.

In the faco of the fact, that so mucli damage has been inflicted upon Waikato orchards by the codlin moth, it is gratifying to find that at least some parts of the district are free from the pest. These orchardings consequently are able, by keeping their best apples over until this season of the year, to obtain remunerative prices, even at auction. We aro pleased to learn that the Tuhikaraniea orciiardist, Mr F. \V, Lang, has obtained, for a senes of consignments of apples recently forwatded to the Auckland market, no less than 3d to Hjd per lb. The varieties sent comprise Boston Russet—which Mr Lang reckons to be about the best keeper—Winter Magetin and Stono Pippin. Considering the heavy crops usually yielded by apple trees in Waikato, such prices as the above must pay handsomely, and would well warrant some trouble and expense in keeping the moth in check.
