Capai'ie has proved his ability to get high-class racers, hurdle horses and steeplechasers, being the sire of Raglan, Sentinel, Capella, Kapai, Signess (the fastest pouy s-outh of the line), Sincerity, Hune, Fragrance, Kneecap, and other fast horses too numerous to mention. He has also proved himself a getter of firstclass weight-carrying hacks, hunters and carriage horses, his stock having taken prizes at all the shows on the West Coast and in Christchurch. The colours he gets cannot be beaten, he never having sired anything but whole - coloured browns or bays with black points, and he possesses in a high degree that power so raro in sires of assimilating with all classes of marcs. Alao, the Heavy Draught Stallion, GENERAL FLEMING. General Fleming's sire is the great Young Banker (1354), bred by David Riddell, of Kilbowie, Scotland, imported to New Zealand by the Hon. M. Holmes. His sire, Banker, by Admiral out of Minnie hy Rob Roy. Admiral's sire, Sir Walter Scott, was champion of Battersea International Exhibition. Young Banker's name and fame have been ringing all over the Southern Hemisphere for the last dozen years, and it would be useless to expatiate on his career and to mention his successes at the stud, or to note the famous gets that have sprung from him would be superfluous. General Fleming (4 years, bred by Hon. M. Holmes) is a beautiful bay, and stands 17 hands high, with immense power, and is, without doubt, the grandest and heaviest colt for hi 3 years ever bred in the North Otago district. He is compactly built, and although his bone is veiy heavy, is of the right, clean, flat kind, with plenty of silky hair on his legs, and growing in the right place. Bell (dam of General Fleming) was bred by the late Mr Robert Stalker, out of the famous brood mare Kate, by (Cox's) Prince of Wales (imported) ; her sire was that famous horse Dulce of Bucleugh. Bell herself was the very best Oily ever bred in Otago, Mr Stalker refusing 200 guineas former when rising 3 years old. Her filly by Youn« Banker, (full sister to General Fleming) has taken more prizes than oue in the show ring, and after being second at Sydney Show was sold for £147General Fleming has ul! tho characs teristics of a high class and fashionably broil horse, and in short is the coming sire of New Zealand.
