FLOODS IN VICTORIA.
(BY ELKCTIUC TIiLEUItAI'H.—ROPyiUGHT.) Mech-ktkxe, August 3. Tuk township Walhatla, 120 miles east of Melbourne, is submerged, the water coming ohieily from melting snow on the ranges. Tho water came down suddenly,and residents escaped with but, litlle clothing. Several bridges have been swept away, and two man have been drowned. Two others are believed to have perished, in a land-lip, and it is feared that more fatalities will be reported. Heavy rains caused floods in Ballarut and Gippsland and rail .vay traffic has been interrupted. August -1. The names of the men drowned at "(Valhalla arc Whitelaw (surveyor) and Gordon (assistant). The men who perished in the landslip were two miners named Lemm and Mohr. All the mines are flooded out, ami damage is done to the extent of thousands. There is a great flood in the AYenibee river. Two men, Biggs and AlwLennan, wore drowned. Nearly five inches >f rain fell in Ballarat district in thirtysix hours.
