WAIKATO HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting nf tho above Board was held in the Hamilton Borough Council Chambers yesterday, at 11 a.m., when thero were present : Messrs Primrose (chairman), Ilanmer, Browno, McGuirk, Lang, Anderson, Heaney, Clements, Teasdale, Seddon, McPhorson and Kallendor. More Room. —Dr. Kenny attended tho meeting, and said that at present, and for some time past, tho Hospital had been full, and lie needed more accomniodaSon and also an increase in tho nursing staff. At present he had no place in which 110 could isolate any patient, and there wore many patienLs who should not be admitted into tho general ward, as their presence would bo detrimental to the health of tho other patients. Litoly ho had on several occasions had all the beds occupied, and he asked tho Board what he would do if another patient came. Would he have to turn him away? Olf and on auxilhary nurses had to be employed, and it would bo to tho advantage of tho Board 011 the score of economy, to say nothing of the well-being of the institution, if tho staff of nurses was increased by appointing more probationers.—A lengthy discussion ensued, tho result of which was that it would not be right to turn any patient away from the Hospital, and that the Board meet at the Hospital on September 2nd to consider the question of enlarging the building, the members in future to make quarterly visits to the institution. Dr. Kenny took the opportunity of expressing his satisfaction at the state in which Dr. Cole had left the Hospital, everything being in perfect order. MitOhkll. —The Auckland Charitable Aid Board wrote siying that relief had been granted this woman and eight children at Is Id per day, and that tho same would be charged.

Donnelly,—Tlie Secretary ol the Charitable Aid Board at New Plymouth wrote iuforming tho Waikato Charitable Aid Hoard that Mrs Donnelly had returned to New Plymouth. This information would enable tlio Board to prosecute Mrs Dotinely for obtaining money undsr false pretences, she having obtained £-1 from them on the understanding lhat she was to proceed to Queensland. A letter was also read from her to Rev. Mr Hvans of To Aroha, saying alio had arrived safely in Gladstones tjneensland. Andrews.-«Mr Norria wrote recommending Mrs Andrews and her daughter, of Waiorongomai, as fit persons to receive charitable aid.—Referred to Mr II miner. Mevt Contract.—Mr Battloy wrote (riving notice to discontinue the meat contract at the end of the month. Hah.vh Mitchell.—-It was rosolved to pay this girl's fare to Auckland, where 3he was to enter the Salvation Army's Rescue Home. Seuhktahy's Report.—Tho secretary's report showed that twonty-fivo persons wero receiving charitable aid, and that there were fourteen inmates in the llefuge, one paying for his maintenance. —Finance: Bank credit balance £103 8s 7d ; subsidies due by Government, £4IS 19s ; contributions due, £'880 Is; subsidy due on same, £38(5 Is; Hospital foes receivable about £100; endowments, £30; total. £2484 9s 7d ; less accounts to be paid, £217 14s Id ; leaving a balance of £2200 15s M. The report was received and adopted. Doctor's Report.—The doctor's report was also received and adopted. Subsidies.—Considerable discussion ensued on the question of subsidies due to Hospital Boards which stop on the Ist October, 1891, having run for five years. Mr lleaney moved that the Secretary be intrueted to write to all contributing bodies drawing their attention to this matter, and asking that their contributions be paid by the Ist September.—Captain McPherson further moved that Mr Bryce be communicated with, asking him to move in the matter, and to try and get the subsidies renewed for another live years, or else to do what he could to obtain a promise from the Colonial Treasurer to pay the present subsidy for another 12 months. —Carried. Ration*. —The usual relief was granted for tlio moulli, with the addition of Mrs Jackson, Tnupiri, at 2s lid per week. .KtrziwriticK.—'The Doctor reportod that he had discharged Fitzpatrick tor insubordination etc., as reported in our last issue.
