Wedxesday.—(Before Captain Jackson, R.M.) Graham v. Gi.ekso.w—'This was a case arising out of the breaking of glass in the plaintiff's shop door, which act was alleged to have been committed by defendant's son ar.d others. Mr Dyer appeared for Glenson, and Mr Hay for one of the other defendants (Cox). The evidenco for the prosecution Beemed most conclusive, but after soma pretty tall swearing had bean indulged in by the defendant, which was severely commented upon by the Bench, the case was dismissed. Thursday. Assault, and Other Charges.—On Thursday morning the charges arising out of a quarrel among the wives of some of the free labourers engaged at the shaft was entered upon.—Green v. Wood, charci of assault; same v. Marriott and Wood, one charge of assault and one of using obscene language (Mr Dyer for plaintiff, Mr Hay for defendants); Marriott v. Green, for using obscene language on a public highway—to wit, the Great South rrad (Mr Hay for plaintiff, Mr Dyer for defendant. — I Theue cases occupied the Court all diy and up to 8.30 p.m. Considerable local interest was evinced at the result, as the hall was crowded the greater part of tho day. Compared with the lying, swearing, and fals3 swearing indulged in by some of the witnesses, Ananias was a perfect George Washington and Sapphira a model of truthfulness. —His Worship intimated his intention to give judgment next morniug. Friday. His Worship gave judgment in the above cases: Each of the defendants Marriott and Wood were tined 10s on each charge, which with costs amounted to £2 l ( Js, or the option of seven Jays' imprisonment.—The case Marriott v. Green was dismissed. Crowoku v. Corxiaorr.—Using obscene and insulting language.—The defendant was fined 10*, with £2 costs, or seven days' imprisonment.
