THE PAKURANGA HOUNDS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sin,—As it is now a settled fact that the Pakuringa hounds are corning to the Wuikato, I would crave a small space in your valuable papr.r respecting their visit. Owing to the large amount of injury done to fences by tho followers of these hounds in past seasons, many of the settlors had alm ist- decided to warn off the hounds should they again visit Waikato. I am happy to say that better counsel prevailed, but I wi-sh, although this does not lessen the injury, to point out to my fellow settlers that all the damage done to fences etc., is caused by the mob, who nearly all ride old crocks that cannot jump, and consequently make large gaps in tho fences. As an endeavour is being made to cut a permanent pack of hounds for Waikato, I trust that any damage that may be done during the coining visit of the hounds will not cause my brother farmers to set their faces against the establishment of a permanont pack, as should the latter become an established fact, the fields would bo reduced to :i minimum, none but members being allowed to follow, and the damages then to fences would be little or nothing. Fearing to occupy too much of your valtiablo paper I refrain from entering into the good hunting does to fanners, in the enhanced prices of horsos and horse feed.—l am, etc., A FARMKK.
