EMPLOYMENT OF FEMALES ACT.
TO TIIK KDITOK. Sir, —I am surprised to find that the Employment of Females Act, ISSI, is quite unknown in WaiUato, not even an inspector having been appointed under this Act. Would you therefore kindly publish the following two sections as 1 am sure employers are not aware that they are daily rendering themselves liable to a penaly. Section 5 states :— " No person shall employ any female or child at any time between the hours of six iu the afternoon and tight in the morning or for more than eight hours a day.'' Section 6 : " Every female shall have a holiday on Saturday afternoon from two o'clock and ou Sunday, Good Friday, Easter Monday, and any other day set apart as a public holiday, without loss of wages.'' I know that Section (3 is quite a dead letter iu this district, girls having been detained in the work room the whole of Saturday afternoons, A Parent,
