KIHIKIHI.

Railway Frbights.—As a result of the lion. J. liryce's interview with the Railway Commissioners, relative to the application of tlie Kihikihi Town Hoard for a reduction of railway freights on manures, etc., the Herald of Friday last reports to the effect that they have Riven the satne their consideration, and that they are willing to make a reduction thereon. It is somewhat pleasing to note this, more especially so, owing to previous applications (by mora important Local Bodies) of a similar nature having been refused. ri'Ntu Railway Hkiixie.— I The Herald of the same date also states that "Tho residents of Kihikihi and its vicinity are anxious that the Puniu bridgo near that town, a bridge used for railway purposes, should bo allowed to bo devoted also to ordinary traliic." In so far as such report refors to the Kihikihi people, [ venturo to say it is entirely misleading. They are not likoly to work against their own interests by making any such request, and are, consequently, desirous of no such change. [>OG3.—Several of the settlers here have during tho past week or so lost their dogs, in what, for a short time, appeared to bo a very mysterious manner. It soon, how ■ over, transpired that a certain farmer not far away from the township, had been laying poison on his farm after a wholesale manner, without giving (so it is stated) sulticient if any notice thereof. I'ersons in tho township should (after registering them) see that their d"gs are not permitted to wander in search of such delicacies as are now to bo found in plentiful supplies 011 this particular farm, although the town would perhaps bo well rid cf a few of the more thieving class of canines, complaiuts against which aro at present gotting very numerous.
