Mh Jomkph I'kkston', a very old colonic, anil the owner of t.'ie Pino Forest Valley Estate., ill the Fortroso District, of lu',ooo acres, one of the largiwt properties in Otago, died suddenly on Sunday morning. When his family loft for church he appeared in his usual health ; but during the service a ■ me.isenger arrived for them, and on reaching home they found their father dead. Deceased, who leaves a. growi:-up family, was a very successful colonist. Dun'kdin, Last Night.
Xews has been reccivod of the sudden death at Closeburu Station of the wife of Hugh Ivirkpatiick, a well-known draper in tho old identity days.
