A 1.11TL13 duel seems to have token place between the It ail way Commissioners aud the Hon. Mr Seddon, Minister of Public Works, upon the quostion of procuring four boilers from England instead of having them made in the Addiugton workshops. After considerable pecking on tho jiart of Mr Seddon, aud dignified replies upon the part of the Commissioners, Mr Seddon seems to have come out of the fray only second best, as, after all the correspondence, tho Commissioners explained their action, by saying that thero was not sufficient appliances at tho colonial workshops, though repeated applications had been made for funds with which to supply the necessary accommodation. Mr Seddon justifies his action in '' heckling'' tho Commissioners _by calmly stating that only two applications had been recoived by the Government in connection witli this sub jeet before sending to England for the work. The question that arises in the ordinary inmd is, How many applications have to be made to a Cabinet Minister before they can be considered "repeated?"
