POLICE COURT, HAMILTON.

Fhidat. —(Before Messrs Coatas and Graham, J. l J s.) Horse-Stealing.—An aboriginal native, Teu Wira, was charged by the police with stealing a horse, valued at i'lo, from Mr J:. W. Littlewood, Taupiri, on or about the lyth February last.—Mr F. W. Littlewood gave evidence aa to the horse being Jus property, and that he had not piven accused or any othor person authority to sell the animal. He identified the horse outside tho Court as the ono he had lost.—W. Biddls was also examined. He had bought tho horse from accused for £1, who told him tliat it was his own. Ho got a receipt for his money from accused, who signed as " Hohapa."—Tho accused asked the witue3s if he was certain that lie had sold a horse to him. The witness said he was positive.—Constable Sheehan also gave evidence, relative to tho arrest of tho accused at Otorohanga.—This concluded the case fer tho prosecution, and on the accused being warned in the usual way, ho said all ho had to state was that he had not sold tho horse to Biddle ; he did not know what else to say.—The Bench committed accused to take his trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court in Auckland. Mr Quick acted as interpreter, and Constable Murray conducted the prosecution,
