EDUCATIONAL MATTERS.
DEPUTATION OF WAIKATO TEACHERS. (NY TELEGRAPH.— OWN COHKKSPOVDENT.) AUCKLAND, List Nlgllt. This afternoon a committee meeting of the Auckland Board of Education was held in che Victoria Arcade buildings when a deputation of Waikato head teachers consisting of Messrs A. Edwards, Tamihero, J. M. Murray, Hamilton West, H. K. Hyatt, Cambridge West, T. Chapman, Kilnkilu, and W. R. C. Walker, Taotaoroa, waited on the Board with requests that the C examination for teachers be held at the same time as the O and E and that the Board put a stop to personal canvassing amongst school committees by teachers for appointment. The Committee determined to refer the matters to tho Board. Mr Murray, one of the deputation, stated that it was the general opinion that the country schools were under staffed, and he attributed the bad writing to this. Mr Murray was informed that tho matter is now under the consideration of tho Board. The deputation drew attention to the dithculties of tcuchws connected with quarter money. Tho opinion seemed prevalent in the committee that the Board would have to find tho school requisites tut they could not discuss the matter until it was considered by a full meeting of tho Board.
