On the way to Putney tlio New Zeulandor drow further ahead, passing that place in the wonderful time of Bmin. lNsoc. At Cabarita he had increased his lead to seven lengths, and thenceforward had the race nt his mercy. Sullivan cased off slightly before passing the winning post, but even then his time, lSniin. -1 lA.soc. was_ the fastest ever recorded. He finished strong and well. Dutch rowed a good dogged race, but never bad a chance. The betting (it the start \v;u 2 to 1 on iSullivan.
