WHANGAPE LICENSING DISTRICT
A JIKETISG of thb Committee of this district was held at the Hot Springs Waiogaro ou Saturday June 20th. Present: Messrs J. K. McDonald (chairman), John Frew, Arthur Shilson, Joshua Foster, John Duncan, and Andrew Whaanga, Native Assessor. The minutes of the last meeting were read and con. firmed. The application of S. L. Wilson for an accommodation license for his lisut-c to bs called '" The Hot Springs Hutei," Waingaro was recuived. Tho police report being of a favourable character vraa adopted, and after due consideration the application was uuani> mously granted by the Committee, Mr Wilson's fee being lixed at £.3 for the coining year. The expenses of the Native Assessor aud thu clerk of the Committee were passed for payment, and the following resolution was then carried : "That the chairman bu empowered by this committee to make representation to Government with regard to the anomalous state of this licensing district, iu that it is at present a native licensing district though tho native popu'atiou is not two thirds of the total population."
