SALE OF WORK.
The sale of work and entertainment in flia Public IJall, Hamilton, on Tuesday ] afternorn and evening, in aid of funds to repair S. Peter's parsonage, were successful in every way. The committee of huhes had worked hard, and the work stall supervised by Mrs Hume well supplied with articles of all descriptions, which n:iit with a ready sale, the whole being disposed of during the evening. At this stall alone over .€32 was taken. At three o'clock the li-mj dance was given by children in costume, who had been trained by Miss, New.-11. At ll:l;t'-past live tea presided over by Mrs Graham, assisted by a number of yoiinjj ladies, was par» taken of by a large number the many good things provided bei'ig greatly appreciated. The hall was then cleared Init on the doors bciii" reopened at halfpast i-even it speedily relilled and at 8 o'clock the evenintr entertainment was given. This was opened by an overture by the Hamilton String Hand following which was an exhibition of .Mrs Jarley's famous wax-works specially imported for the occasion. The exhibition was very I t:oud, the movements of the various figures [ being iit'ellke, or rather such as you would expect from wax iii Hires run by clockwork. The barn dauce came next after which a number of tableaux aud son;,'s were liiveu. Among the tableaux the (ireek Harpist was one of the prettiest, the illustration of Brookea' famous Monkey Soap aljo being very good.
