Kepokt.->.—The foreman of works reported that the Hamilton West School hill road had been re-formed and gravelled ; Victoria-street footpaths had been gravelled from the Hamilton Auction Mart to the Council Chambers ; pens in sale-yards re-formed and gravelled ; watortable? in Victoria and (irey* street* have been cleaned up. The public draiu in Hamilton E-.iat has been cleaned out, and Cook-street ploughed and carted oil'. l J have been laid down in Wellington-street, County road and Domain drain, Victoria street, and a wooden culvert in Victoria street. Work required to be done : Drain through saleyards, drain and water tables in (-.roy-street, gravel in Welling-ton-street, and part of Firth-street lo be ploughed us it e:m lie. c.irtcd ott free of cost; also three rods of iron for unstopping pipes, anil some kauri and totar.-i timber as there was none suitable in Hamilton. The report was received aud adopted.—The poundkecper reported having impounded live beasts—four head of cattle, and one horse. Report received. Aococvrs.—The following accounts were passed for payment :—viz., Slide, 2s Gd ; Munro, is (id ; Waite, <h ; I'arr, 103 Id ; Mayes (lamps), i'l 'is (id ; Winter, 19s 6d; Jones, £10 10s .'H ; Davey, £2 (is ; Devitt, £1 (id ; Carder Hros , £2 16s 9d. Fc\Bs.--The clerk reported the funds as £93 13s 3d in credit. N.Z. Hkralu.—The subscription to this paper was ordered to be discontinued after the termination of the present quarter. Ratk.—On Cr Bull's motion, a rate of Is in the £ was struck. A motion of Cr. Wood's, that the rate be lid, lapsed for want of a seconder. Sai.k YakiiS.—The Mayor said that the enlargement of the saleyards was one of the lirst improvements the Council should undertake now that they lud a credit balance. lie would move that 11 additional pens be added, and that tenders be called for their erection. Cr. Jones thought that the aalcs should be hold fortnightly not monthly as now. If Ohaupo could hold salcn weekly, surely Hamilton could hold them fortnightly. They were losiug money by not having them. Cr. Scott spoke to the name elTeet and gave notice of motion that " The saleyards be opsued for aalcs fortnightly not monthly ae heretofore. ■U'STict: DV Pkack.—The Mayor said that he had received a letter from ilio Minister of Justice, saying that perhaps he had better be re sworn, but C.ipUiu Jucksou, It. M., had refused to do β-j. On the motion of Cr. Dt-y it was resolved to telegraph to the. Minister that Captain Jackson had refused to swear the Mayor in as a J. I'. Ifi'.AVKi..-It was resolved that gravel Ik- charged for at 2d per load from Council pits. This was all the business of importance. i ;
