ST. PETER'S, CAMBRIDGE.
(KHOM OUll OWN C'OKKKHI'ON DK.NT.) Tub second social evening in connection witli the above church was held last week in the Catholic schoul, and, as far as the entertainment was concerned, proved enjoyable ; but the room was far too small to accommodate the audience, and consequently the heat was terrible to endure. The manner in which the tableaux were put upon tho stage reflects the highest credit upon all concerned, and I should like to see them repeated in the Public Hall, for they were really first-class, and were worthy of a better stage. A number of solids "were given, but, of course, they did not sound well as it was utterly impossible to sing in such a small and crowded room with any effect —indeed, I consider it was a case of "cruelty to bipeds " to ask anyone to sing in such an atmosphere. The following was tho programme Smig, •' Kathle»n Aroon," Miss \V. Walker ; song, "Never Trouble Trouble," Mr B. Garland ; tableau, "Too Lite" (three scenes); song, "Cherry Ripe," Miss Iv. Jolly; tableau, "Old liobin C.-ay " (three scenes; song, '• Killarney," Mis Chitty ; song, "The Watch on the Rhine," Mr Hooper, aocompanied by Miss Hooper on the zither; tableau, "Tho f.'ipsy's Warning;" song, "Waiting," Miss Roberts; tableau, ''Caught." Appropriate songs wero sung during tho tableaux by Miss J. Wilson and Mesdames Madigan and Wilkinson, which added greatly to the effect. At 9.1.") p.m. a recherche "feed" was partaken of, which made me wonder where tho profit comes in for tho charge of admittance was only sixpence per individual. I trust the next of these social evenings will be held in the Public Hall.
