Reference was made in it to the le.ue of absence in-anted to their teacher, Mr La Trobe, by the Board of Education. Mr L, Trohu is nmv on a visit to the Old Gounliy. and he is expected back again to resiiine his duties here at the end of September next, Mv Meiklejohn, M.A.. being now in charge of the school, and (living every s.ui-f action. The report of the Inspector in reference lo the examination lately held was of a satisfactory nature, the percentage of pusses being' high. The attention of the Hoard had again been drawn to the statu of the teacher's residence, which was sadly in need of repair. The only householders nominated prior to the meeting were Messrs Rendell and Seivell, and as no others were nominated at the meeting, which was a very small one (the weather being most boisterous), there was no coininiitce elected, this being the second time of asking, or rather tho second meeting held for that purpose. No doubt Messrs Mendel I and Sewell will be appointed Commissioner:; by tho P .ard of Kducation.

Skveiii; Wkai iiv;n. —The nvst > f last, week continued very wet, and on Friday and .Saturday very heavy falls of rain took place, creeks being rapidly tilled and low lying grounds soon became sheets ot water. Tho glass was very low- -much lower than it Ins been for many months past. ] Jit (.or, cold, gusty winds have prevailed since the end of Inst week. Sutton's coach has thus far continued to run, but the heavy stato of the road must soon hinder tratlie, especially as no maintenance woik upon the main road is carried on—or, at least, very little of it that is so much required. Tho mail contractor will carry the mails over on horseback for the winter months.
