SALE OF WORK.
All the preliminary preparations in connection with the sale of work to be held on Tuesday next in the Public Hall, Hamilton, in aid of funds to repair S. Peter's parsonage, Hamilton, are now tiuishod. The whole of the work has been handed in to tho committee, who wcro busily engaged on Thursday afternoon in fixing the prices of the many articles. These comprise a variety of articles, usetnl as well as ornamental, the former class being most represented, and all the prices have been fixed low, just covering the value of the material, the work being given in. It is not intended to have the usual auction at the end, as it is found that purchasers wait for this, and by arranging not to bid against one another, secure the articles at ridiculously low prices ; but any goods over, and these are not likely to be many, will be reserved and disposed'of later on. The sale will open at two o'clock in the afternoon, and will ho continued until 10 o'clock in tho evening, with a break for tea. In the afternoon tea and cake will be provided at 3J, and the barn and maypole dances will he. performed by children who have been carefully trained by Misses Newell and Biggs. At five o'clock a sumptuous tea. will be served, and the hull will bo closed. Re-opening at halfpast seven the sale will be continued, and a promenade concert given. This will consist of a series of tableaux and Mrs Jarley's wax works, interspersed with a number of songs and musical selections by well-known amateurs. The tableaux and wax-works have been caiefully prepared by Mrs Kenny and Miss Biggs, a guarantee that this portion of the entertainment will not lack attractiveness.
