KIHIKIHI LICENSING COMMITTEE
Tub annual mooting of the Kihikihi Licensing Committee was held in tho Public Hall, on Wednesday, 10th Juno IS'JI. Prosent: Messrs M. D. Dinneen (chairman), J. Varre.U and Henry Monciief. The following applications were received : — Star Hotel.—George Maunder, for publican's license in respect thereof. Kihikihi Hotkl.—Thus. Anderson, for renewal of license. Alpha Hotkl.—Mary Corbny, a like application. As the police report was favourable, all three applications were granted. Notwithstanding the police report, the Chairman drew the attention of the applicants to the fact that drunken men have, on several occasions, been seen about the streets on Sundays, which went to show that drink was sold during prohibited hours. He did not blame any particular publican, but just mentioned tho matter in the hope that the practice would be discontinued. Tho committee expressed their regret that tho license fee (€4O) was so high, and a resolution was passed to the elfect that steps be taken to petition the Mouse with a view to having tho fixing of tho fees left to the discretion nf tho committee. The co-operation of the various local bodies in Waikato was directed to be obtained, if possible, so that the united efforts would carry somo weight with the House, and tho petition would propably receivo support.
