MARKET RETORTS. '.i ho Naiv Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report under date: — Adelaide, May "lh.—Wheat : Wo have again experienced a quiet market and gradually receding prices. Since nnr last report wo havu sold several thousand bags ut from Is !)d to -Is lOd for prime wheat, and Is 3d to Js 8d for medium to inferior, but values to-day are not more than 4s "Jd to Is Mil for prime wheat delivered at Port Adelaide. Under dute sth inst. our London house cabled us as follows :—" The wheat market is disorganised, and continues drooping. Victorian wheat to arrive iron ship is worth c.i.f. 43s per iSOlbs ; May, June B/L, parcels 41s ; and ex warehouse 4 Is Gd per ■iflGlbs."—Flour : There is a considerable difficulty in maintaining prices, although values ltavo never risen in proportion to the rise in the price of wheat. Wo quote best patent roller Hour at £10 15s per ton f.o.b. I'ort Adelaide; country brands, £!!10s to £10.— Oats (duty '2s per cental) : Thoro is a steady demand, and prices are linn at 'Js .'id per bushel, gross weight, bags included, in bond, Port Adelaide.
Dcnedin, May 14. —Wheat: A steady demand in experienced for this cereal. Millers, however, do not appear to be anxious to operate to any great extent, but any suitable lota offering and for immediate sale are readily taken up at prices equal to lata rates, presumably in order to keep up their prosent stocks, which are not by any means heavy. A moderate amount of business has been dono during tho past week. Tho quantity still to come forward is undoubtedly limited, and owing to this fact a few growers prefer holding in tho meantime, in the hopo of boing able to secure higher prices further on, and at the present moment there is every indication of their anticipations being realised. We quote, for prime milling, Northern velvet, and Tuscan, 4s 7d to 4s 8:1, extra prime, Id more: Southern best, 4s (id to 4s 7d; medium, 4s 3d to 4s fid ; inferior to good whole fowl wheat, 8s (id to 4s (ex store, terms).—Oats: A moderately fair demand has continued to exist for these during the past week, more particu'mly for bright, wollvi'rown sorts, both feed and milling, which wo have placed at a slight advance on prices obtained prewous'.y ; but discoloured and medium sorts aro not in the same requost, and buyers less anxious to purchase theso at late quotations. Owing to the weather being more favourable, the quantity sent forward this week has shown a considerable incroaso; in consequence a much larger qor.nt ; ty is being pub on the market for in, .-"Katp sa!.\ and will have ft tendency t" weaken pries, unless the unexpected shou'd happen—that is to say, a much stronger demand than is now experienced—'.' hich is hardly looked for durjnf tho nox'. two or thro# months to come at'my I'i'te. -Ve quote : 15e»t bright stout nulling, i" to la 7U; medium, U fid to
