OPENING OF PARLIAMENT,

In Im speech Mis Excellency made reference to the late Federation Convention, and said that uo time would be lu»t in submitting the question of Federation to the House as a distinct part of tho policy ol the Government. Among the Bills which would be introduced this session we.ro : Local Government, Electoral Reforms, Abulishmont of Plural Voting, and Industrial Courts oi Conciliation and Arbitration Bills. It was aKu mentioned that after the Financial Stiteuu'iit had been brought down, measures would be submitted by the Government to effect certain fiscal changes in order to improve the means of revenue.

A mob of so-called Socialists collected round tho entrances to th l building and hooted and groaned at His Excellency when he marie his appearance.
Several prominent members of tho Socialist body delivered harangues to tho crowd and gave expression to a number of frothy revolutionary sentiments.
