PUKEKURA ROAD BOARD.
The members of the abovo Board mot at the I'ukerimu school-room on Monday last. Present : Messrs E. Lake, If. Krsib, and \V. Vosper. An apology was received from Mr Anderson for his absence.—lt was proposed by Mr H. Kusab, and seconded hy Mr Vosper, that Mr Lake be re-elected chairman.—Tho Chairtinn said tho ordinary meeting had better bo adjourned foi a short time, so that tho an mm I meeting could be held.—This was agreed to. AX.NMJ.Ui MEETING. The annual meeting then took place, a (piorum of ratepayers being ptesent. The Chairman read the notice calling the meeting, and said that, practically, the holding of the annual meeting was a mere form, as the only business to be done was the reading of a copy of tho receipts and expenditure. The said copy not yet having being signed by the auditor, it was proposed by Mr 11. I'islier, seconded by Mr C.iley, that the balance-sheet us read be adopted, snbj ict to tho auditor's approval of the same. —Carried.—lt was proposed by Mr Fisher, seconded by Mr 1). C.iley, that a hearty lo'.e of thanks be given to tho members of the Board for the judicious way the members of the Board had spent the funds at their disposal, and the creditable state of !ho various district i\>.ids, second to none in tho district. —The Chairman, on behalf of the Board, thanked the ratepayers for their confidence, and hoped that with the funds in hand to be able to again relieve tho ratepayers this year from striking a rate, thus making the fourth year without needing to strike a rate, as there were still over £100 in hand after paving all accounts to date.— On resuming the ordinary meeting, Mr Like drew attention to the Station Road culverts being clinked up, and said they would need to be lifted and re-laid. Re Parallel Road, at Ohnupo station, ho said something ought to be dona this winter to this road, and also that the bridge near the station gito was in a bad atate of repair, and lint the Board will not spend any more of (ho ratepayers' uionev on this road till such road is gazetted. Mr Like said it would bo advisable to get Mr Bryce to endeavour to get this done; that the plans, etc., had been ready for years. This matter was left with Mr Lake to do the best lis could to expedite the gazetting.—Mr Ltko asked the opinion of the members present if it would not be advisable to take action to prevent anyone from removing gravel from the Board's pits, and named some who had been doing so lately without even asking the Board's permission. He would give notice of motion, to be brought up at the next meeting of the lioard, that no person be allowed to take any gravel from ttie siid pits on any account. —Mr Lake said he had received a letier from Mr H. Hyatt, requesting that a portion of Tenny-son-street, near L uiib-str»et, be made. In regard to thi-- request, it was decided not to break up the road way. but Mr Vosper was authorised to get the furze cut and some hillocks levelled, if found necessary. Mr Vosper was also authorised to get tho briars cut near the bridge on the Rsdouht Road.—The secretary whs requested to write to Mr Bridgman, asking him to cut tho briars on the Pukekura Road, as the Board intended to form the road; also to Mr J. Hall, asking him to remove the bank on the Pukekura Roid near his house, as it is dangerous for wheeled traffic.—Re clearing and'forming road near Mr J. Seabrooke's : It was rosolved that tenders be invited for forming about 30 chains, 3Gft. wide.—The next uieetingof the Board ia to bo held on Monday, Gth July, 1891.— Accounts amounting to £19 12a (id were passed for payment, and the meeting closed.
