THE SHAUGHRAUN.

On Thursday night tho Hamilton Amateur Dramatic Company in their second perfoiinaiice of the Shaughrnun were greeted as wi] predicted with a bumper Imusd which the excellence of the entertainment fully nieriterl. We feel sure tha company migrht have continued the performance several times morn without there being liny fearof imblic appreciation flugpiiipf. Several of those who attended both evenings were even better pleased with the second vopresentatiou of the play than they were witli the first, new points present themselves which are passed when everything is fresh and unexpected. The many and various scenes passed with a smoothness and precision often lucking in amateur performances, denoting care and attention on tho part v( the actors and, in a large measured lie to tho stage management on the part nf Capt, Reid, to whom nvery credit is due for the success attending the production of the play. Mr George Mayes, as Conn, excelled his previous night's performance, his description of the hunting scene and tho way in which Squire Foley's mare ran away with him was told with immense effect; tht) play of his features and his droll humour fairly brought down tho house. Miss S. Cassidy, who played the part of Mrs O'Kelly, appeared to greater advantage than on the first night ; she may claim to divide tho honour with Mr Mayes. The young ladies who phtyed the paitsof Moya and Aria O'Neill, although not brought prominently to tin! front ill our previous notice, sustained their sevvrid parts most creditably, and aided gnvitiy by their careful acting to m-iIcK the wholt! play so successful. Wo are pleased to hear that it is proposed shortly to play the Shaughraun again, on thfi occasion of tendering a benefit to Gupta iu Reid, in this the company may rely upon a generous support from the public, who would Ije glad to see the Shaugliraun attain, especially if, were added to it a compliment to Captain Reid.
