Details of the sinking of tho rebel warship Blanco Encalada oil' Autofagasta show that she was attacked by it torpedo fleet while she was lying at anchor, and the vessel was destroyed by tho Almiranto Lynch, a torpedo cruiser recently built in England for tho Chilian Government, which fired two Whitehead terpedocs. Tho number of persons on board tho Blanco Encalada was jOO. half of whom wero drowned. The ironclad Iluasca was also struck by the torpedo. The warship Florence lias gone over to the rebels. President Balmaceda, fearing an attempt to poison him, has all his meals prepared by his mother. April 28. Tho rebel cruiser Aconcagua fought with tho torpedo fleet for four and a-half hours, and eventually escaped to Caldera. She was struck seven times, but the damage sustained was not of a serious nature. It is reported that the insuigcnts arc parleying for peace. The report that the rebel ship Huasca had sunk after being struck by torpedoes is denied.
