MARKET UK PORTS. The New Zealand L >an and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report as under;—

Dunkuin. April 3.—Grain.—Wheat : Litest advices from Home report the markit firm and rism?, the English market showing a general advance of Is. Both the Continental and tho American show an upward tendency, which is to bo hoped wdl continue. There is some business passing locally, and the trade appear to be daily more anxious to secure supplies, which are uot at all coming very frot'lv to hand. Last week's quotations urn n:adilv obtained for any offering, and .-IwoiM i!i,t p,.wnt tone of tho Homo inaiUt. imu'Lhip it h fully anticipated that a forte- i.dv.iuc: may libmlmost iiiiim-iliatiilv fstabii-li'M). W-i quote pri>ii.j miiliu,' velvet aud Tu-e'li, 1< to 4s 2d : medium to good, 3s 10 I to Is : inferior 3s i'; I to 3< !).l {-■< .stoi« ; terms).—O.its : A juoderate demand for coastwise and to Australia Ins been experienced during the week and several linos have been taken up on the basis of last week's quotations. Consignments are now coming to hand pretty freely, but shippers are not disposed to operate to any extent at present rates, only purchasing s dKcient for present requirements. Tho same remarks apply to local millers' operations. We quote prime milling, bright and stout (thin-skinned). Is 5d to Is old ; best short, bright feed, Is 4.W to Is 5d ; medium to good, Is 3d to Is Id (ex«store sacks extra.) —Potatoes : Deliveries have not been so extensive during the past week. Sales are hi consequence more easily effected, but without any improvement in price_.__Qu.otatkins : For best Derwonts, 50s to 555; medium, 40s to 47s (id ; kidneys, 35s to 42s 6d per ton (sacks weighed in).—Dairy produce: The supply of butter has falhn off considerably, but more than sufficient for requirements the demand being for local consumption only at from G'J to 7d per lb for best salted. Cheeso has only a very feeble demand at 4{d to 4Jd for factory made, medium size, and 4-Jd to 5d for loaf. —Flax : Reports from Home are less satisfactory lately, the market showing a downward tendency ; buyers in the local market, in congeqivence, are not so keen to operate at late rates, which we quote,—viz, for common, coarse, and strawy, £13 to £15 j medium, £1510s to £17 ; good, £17 10s to £10 ; extra fine, £20 per ton. Chkistchukch, April 10.—Wheat: During the week the volume of business has beon considerable, but values locilly have displayed considerable- irregularity. The Victorian yield being reported short of the estimate, and the firm tone displayed in the London markot, have together had a hardening influence locally, and speculation has formed no inconsiderable clement in the week's transactions. Many of the farmers aro wisely taking advantage of a remunerative price, and leaving the speculation to thope whose business it is. We quote values tor Tuscan at 3s fid to 3s 10W ; Pearl, 3s 7d to 3s 9d ; Hunters', 3s (id to 3s Bd, f.o.b. (sacks extra). Oats: The market is dull and lifeless, and there does not seem to be any immediate prospect of an outlet for stocks beyond local orders. We quote present values as follows :—Prime milling, Is 3d; short feed. Is 7d ; ordinary. Is 4d to is (id per bushel, f.o.b. (sacks extra). Potatoos : 25s to 27s Oil per ton, at country stations, is quoted for both Derwonts and kidneys.—Dairy produco : No alteration. SYDNET, March 1!3.-Wheat (free): Values have shown a decided improvement since last writing, and best sample are today quoted at lip to 4s per bushel, the business passing being chiefly confined to Vietorian wheat. The news by wire respecting tlie advanced figures now ruling at He, has occasioned a very hrm tone in this and the southern markets, and still hi.-h«r prices »r« looked forward to.-Oats { f '..el : St-cks hsw:> ruled rattier short of roi.,ir».iipnts of late, and in nonseqiwiice a blight improvement in values has been the

result. Further shipments are now, how■•vrr. Ki hand and udvisnrt as emme forward, and wo therefore caiin.it quote best feed descriptions at. over 2s. —Maize (free): This market shows a .steady downward tendency, .supplies nf new corn coming forward veiv trrrly. the tot figure obtainable fur which is now 2s 5d per busliel, while simples nf nlil corn are quitted at up to 3s. The incoming crop is repoited from almost all the maize srowinjf district* as exceptioiially heavy. —Butter (duty Id per lb) : The butter market shows some slight improvement since we last wrote on the 2.Sth ult. best local factory made ruling to-dry at up to Bd, and dairy made at up to (id per lb.— Cheese (duty 2d pur lb): .Still quoted as dull at up to od.-Hams (duty 2d per lb): Best Xew Zealand light weight ham" nominally worth lid. Market amply stocked. -Bacon (doty 2d per lb) : I bill and without iinuriivmneiit.— Potatoes (tree): In large supply. We quote to-day. VVarnambools, £2 I.h to £3 per ton ; Circular Heads, to ill per ton. ADKLAIIiK, April 3.-Wheat : The market continues firm at 4s ner bushel, on truck*, Port Adelaide. Under date .list ult. nnr London house wired ai follows: —"The mitrket is active. Australian wheat has advanced lid per quarter, cargne* (id, and parcels 9d per quarter since last report."-Oats (duty 2s per centa ): r-air feeding qualities are quoted at 2s Id tnj.i 2d per bushel, in bond.
